About Chemical Engineering Department
The Chemical Engineering Department of Sal College of Engineering started in the year 2013 with an intake capacity of 60. The Department is headed by Prof H.R. Shah having wide academic experience of more than 35 years. The Department is rich in well experienced and qualified faculty members possessing Post graduate and PhD and experience of 4 – 16 years.
The Department has full fledged developed and equipped laboratories from Semester I to VIII of B.E. Chemical Engineering like Chemistry, Organic Chemistry & Unit Processes, Physical & Inorganic Chemistry, Fluid flow Operation. Process Heat Transfer, Mechanical Operations, Mass Transfer Operations, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Pollution Control, Safety & Health Management and Environmental analysis laboratories providing testing and analysis of variety of chemicals, Waste Water, air and Stack gas monitoring etc. Students get hands on operation experience on various instruments and equipments in the laboratories. It helps to verify the principles of Chemical Engineering, and makes them suitable to take up the filed jobs.
The Department is awarded research grant of Rs. 100000/- from GUJCOST for its Minor Research Project “ Electrochemical degradation of Industrial Waste water”. Prof.( Dr. )Bhavna Soni, Professor of Chemical Engineering , Dr. Disha Vyas, Asst. Professor and group of four students are presently working on this Project.
Looking to the strength of the Department, Gujarat Pollution Control Board has approved us as Schedule –I Environment Auditor
Some of the unique features of the Department are:
-
Parents of the present students meet the Head of the Department for guidance and information on their wards studying in Chemical engineering.
-
Students are counselled on one to one basis for their academic and over all development.
-
The parents and the aspirant student visitors are provided information on the Department, College, Campus and Management during their visits
-
Arranging industrial visits regularly to provide over view of actual plants, interaction with technical and HR executives.
-
Inviting Experts from Academic Institutes and Industries to deliver the talk beyond curriculum.
-
Arranging seminars and workshops.
-
Industry and Research based projects.
The Department is in the process of development in the phase manner:
-
To acquire industry-standard process simulators and other chemical engineering software tools to deepen the knowledge of the students, develop advanced skills needed by the industry. This will enhance extensive computer software skills and designing and configuring data networks and solving real world Chemical Engineering problems.
-
To build up close relationship with the industries leading to the industrial projects and testing, students’ training, industrial visits, Expert Lectures etc.
-
To offer postgraduate program in Chemical Engineering.
-
To organize various students’ Co Curricular and extra curricular and activities.
-
To enhance the students all round development making them fit to the present need of the industries.
-
To establish students’ chapter of IE( Chemical Section) / IIChE.
-
To enter in the MOU with leading organizations.
-
To establish Research & Development Center.
